Work Weekends 

Come spend a weekend with us as prepare for the next ministry season here at Adventurous Christians!

These work weekends will be very flexible for families and individuals with the hope of balancing work and play. See below for more details! To register for one of these retreats, contact Lina.

We may also have needs for programming and kitchen volunteers. Let us know if you are interested and available for that as well! 

Schedule

SCHEDULE 

Families or individuals can arrive and depart anytime throughout the weekend. Please include when you plan to arrive and depart while registering with Lina.

Thursday: 

Arrive in the evening, hang out, get settled.

Friday: 

8:00: Breakfast

9:00: Work begins

12:00: Lunch

1:00: Work resumes

5:30: Dinner

6:30: Hang out in the lodge with games, fire, conversation, etc

Saturday: 

8:00: Breakfast

9:00: Work Begins

12:00: Lunch

1:00: Work continues

6:30: Hang out in the lodge with games, fire, conversation, etc

Sunday:

8:00: Breakfast

9:00: Work Begins

12:00: Lunch

1:00: Work continues

6:30: Hang out in the lodge with games, fire, conversation, etc

Monday:

10:00: Brunch, clean up, head home, those who have time can continue to work and help!

Work Projects

SKILLS

All folks are welcome to volunteer, but the following skills will be put to special work: Carpentry and basic tool user skills, drywall finishing, insulation, plumbing, auto mechanic. 

Please note, Adventurous Christians is a rustic environment and requires a certain amount of physical exertion and fitness. All volunteers should be in good health for potential physically rigorous projects.

Projects May Include:

  • Sauna/Office construction – drywall, carpentry, furnace installation, minor electrical.
  • Wood Splitting
  • Post hole digging
Cost

Work weekends will be free to all volunteers. A donation to camp is appreciated, but not expected.

Lodging

Portage Haus 

The newest building at Adventurous Christians is the Portage Haus. This building will lodge families in separate rooms. This is a year-round cabin, and has a common meeting space. It is heated by an outdoor wood boiler for in-floor heat.

bunkhouse

Built in 2012, the Bunkhouse is a comfortable housing option at AC. This space will house one family and is heated by a propane heater, and is very close to our outhouses and main lodge.
