Wilderness Retreats

During your Wilderness Retreat, you will experience Christian fellowship and hospitality that is unmatched. Here you will find friendly, outgoing, Christ-centered staff ensuring that your time here is memorable.

Located 5 hours North of the Twin Cities, Adventurous Christians is a unique retreat spot for every season of the year. Your retreat includes programming by the staff, incredible home cooked meals, and access to camp’s equipment that is used to explore the surrounding Superior National Forest and Boundary Waters. To enhance your wilderness retreat, you will stay in rustic, yet comfortable cabins.

AC has hosted a variety of groups for many years including men’s and women’s retreats, families, and church groups. We are a small camp and can only host up to 50 people. AC offers a glorious place of solitude and reflection, so organize your own retreat or come up to one of the scheduled ones. Recently, a guest dubbed her AC retreat as “the primitive spa of the north.” Come and see for yourself!

Lodging

Portage Haus – Retreat building

The newest building at Adventurous Christians is our Retreat Building. It sleeps up to 40, is a year-round cabin, and has a large common meeting space. It is heated by an outdoor wood boiler for in-floor heat.

bunkhouse

Built in 2012, the Bunkhouse is a comfortable housing option at AC. This space sleeps 13, is heated by a propane heater, and is very close to our outhouses and main lodge.

Meeting Spaces

lodge

The Lodge is usually used as a place to eat, play games, and relax. However, the living room area of the Lodge often functions as an intimate and informal worship space.

Like the Lodge, our new Retreat Building has a common space that groups use for casual times of acoustic worship and Bible study. This large and comfortable space could fit around 40 people.

outdoor chapel

The outdoor Chapel at AC is just a short walk from our main Lodge. It overlooks Bow Lake and can seat around 50 people. It’s a great spot for outdoor worship, a message from God’s Word, or a  moment of quiet.

Gathering Areas

lodge

The lodge is the main building at Adventurous Christians. This is where we eat, hang out, sing songs, and play board games. The living room area often is used for casual worship and sharing God’s word.

Dining

lodge

The lodge is where we share meals together at AC. We make everything from scratch and are happy to accommodate any special dietary needs. Our meals have an intentional community feel to them. Your group will help us set the table, do dishes, and clean up after the meal.
