Covenant Pines Ministries

October CPM Values Highlight

Our Foodservice Director at CPBC, Pam is passionate about strumming up conversation while preparing meals in the kitchen. Below is her take on how she makes her job at Covenant Pines Bible Camp Intentionally Jesus Focused. This is the first in a series where we will be sharing how we at CPM live into our six core values.

Intentionally Jesus Focused

When I said yes to working full time in the kitchen at Covenant Pines over four years ago, I was nervous about missing out on direct ministry with campers and staff. I soon came to realize just how much of an opportunity God gave me to bring direct ministry into the camp kitchen through stewardship and hospitality. There is also a wealth of opportunities to keep Jesus at the center in the kitchen through working with volunteers, summer staff and full time staff and getting into solid conversations about faith and life.

I am so happy to share with you that I have had countless opportunities to bring one of camp’s core values, Intentionally Jesus Focused, into the kitchen. One of my favorite seasons in the kitchen is the summer. Each summer I get to work with 4-5 college age summer staff and within short order we all get to know each other very well. Something I am passionate about is encouraging people to discern and hear God’s voice and especially in the season of discerning their next step. It is an honor to both work alongside my summer staff and get to encourage them in their daily walk with Christ and to see where God leads them out into the world. Currently some of my past kitchen staff are serving in full time ministry in Alaska, New Zealand, Tanzania and at Covenant Pines. What a gift it has been to see them grow in their faith and have such a strong desire to get out into the world to both know God and make Him known. Hopefully each person I get to work with leaves the kitchen feeling refreshed in their faith and challenged to live out Colossians 3:23 daily.

Colossians 3:23 in The Voice translation says, “So no matter what your task is, work hard. Always do your best as the Lord’s servant, not as man’s.” No task is too little when you are doing it for the Lord. So whether I am working on a new recipe or having a heart to heart with someone in the kitchen, it is all Kingdom work and I am honored to be able to serve God in such a way at Covenant Pines Bible Camp.
