Portage Partners

Portage Partners are individuals and families that share in the cost and the labor of capital and programming improvements at Adventurous Christians. We have a few projects we are working on this spring where we need your help!

It’s incredible to reflect on the decades-long partnership we’ve shared through the Portage Partner initiative and your unwavering support of AC. Over the years, your dedication and generosity have been instrumental in ensuring the continued success and sustainability of this treasured place. We are so grateful for your commitment to this ministry.

This spring, we have three key projects that we are seeking additional support for, and we invite you to join us in making them a reality:

1 .Canoe Trailer Repair: Last summer, in what can only be described as an act of God, all three of our canoe trailers broke unexpectedly within a 24-hour period through normal use. While this was certainly a setback, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise, revealing the structural instability of the trailers. We were able to have two of the three repaired by a local welder, but they now require new wiring, as well as replacement sides and floors for the cargo holds.

2. Lodge Screen Porch Furniture
The plastic wicker furniture on the lodge’s screen porch has deteriorated over time, and we are in need of new chairs. This porch is a beloved gathering space during the summer, offering a cool respite from the bugs while still allowing guests to enjoy the beauty of God’s wilderness.

3. Rock Climbing Wall Harnesses
To enhance safety and streamline training, we are hoping to purchase a standardized set of harnesses for our rock-climbing wall. With our current mismatched set of gear, each harness is a puzzle with quirks that must be learned. Standardizing the gear will simplify belayer training and improve the overall safety of climbing at AC.

We are aiming to raise $5,000 to cover the costs of these three projects. As you consider contributing, know that more than money, we seek first your prayers for the upcoming summer and the staff, guests, and campers who we hope will grow in this place.

Any additional Portage Partner funds raised above the $5000 goal will be used to purchase additional programming equipment for future wilderness trips.
